Further details
Although this ship mark is known on a group of other items, mainly early 19th century fiddle pattern flatware, the pundits have been, to date, unable to ascribe it to a particular area. The very English form & the fact that the maker's mark appears to have been partially scored out suggests this may have been imported from London & the remaining marks perhaps overstruck with the ship mark by a local retailer. It may be from one of the Mediterranean islands that was occupied by the British in the 18th century such as Menorca, & indeed this piece has a Mediterranean provenance.
