A LATE VICTORIAN SCOTTISH SILVER CENTREPIECE JARDINIERE,
MARK OF GEORGE EDWARD & SON, GLASGOW, 1898,
Oval, part-fluted, with wavy rim & frieze decorated in relief with fish & marine foliage below a girdle of laurel leaf & ribbon decoration, supported by a seated mermaid & merman upon a fluted pedestal, all upon an oval, bead-edged base with foliate band & cartouche feet, the top applied with winged half-lion, half fish handles, 20.5 in. high (52 cm.), 144 oz.
