Modelled as a fruiting vine with three allegorical classical female figures at it's base, one representing Justice, another Peace, three candelabrum branches, the other three branches each supporting a vine-pierced hanging basket, the top with similarly pierced receptacle complete with cut-glass bowl, the triform base with cut corners & fruiting vine decoration, inscribed "Presented by the Board of Management, Privileged members and sealholders of the Sydney Synagogue, York Street, to Sigmond Hoffnung Esq. on his embarking for Europe, as a tribute of their high appreciation of his valuable services, as President & Treasurer, of the congregation during a period of seven years, Sydney, N.S.W., Nissan 3rd. 5628, March 26th, 1868", 29 in. high without glass bowl, (73.5 cm.), 340 oz.
