These striking wall lights derive from examples created for the Palazzo del Magnifico, Siena, after designs by Giacomo Cozzarelli in 1504 (see A. Pedrini, L'Ambiente il Mobilio e le Decorazioni del Rinascimento in Italia, Turin, 1925, figs. 609-610).
