Hamburg, 1664-1670, maker's mark a long necked winged monster within shaped cartouche
Cylindrical and on domed foot repoussé and chased with fruit and foliage, the body with detachable sleeve chased with Neptune and Amphitrite with mermen and mermaids riding scaly dolphins catching fish and an eel, with a ship and mountains beyond, with detachable cast leaf-capped scroll handle with grotesque mask finial, the hinged domed cover chased with fruit and foliage border and with bifurcated thumbpiece and central detachable boss cast and chased with the seated figure of a river god supporting a shield later engraved with an English crest, marked on base, the base later engraved with inventory number and scratchweight No. 1 85 [oz.] 10 [dwt.] 0 [gr.]
