The bronze figure is of Ruth Raymond Carhart, prominent socialite in Los Angeles, a princess in Pasadena Rose Parade in 1916. She was twenty-five years old at the time the sculpture was created. Paul Troubetskoy was a personal friend of Ruth Carhart's daughter, Helen Carhart Benner.
