Decorated in gold hiramaki-e on a roiro-nuri ground with scrolling karakusa, with gilt metal fittings similarly engraved, both lacquer and fittings emblazoned with Tokugawa mon, each side with sliding door and blinded windows, the interior with papered sides decorated in ink and color with landscapes, figures and birds on a gold ground, the carrying pole missing
