Lot Essay

See David Black, From Thrace to Tartary, plate 17, for a bocha of similar colour and technique. This piece is also worked in Roumanian couched stitch. Instead of scrolling vines this piece shows the more characteristic arrangement of palmettes found in Shakrizshabz susanis.
