SIALK III PERIOD, CIRCA 3500 B.C.
The rounded vessel tapering at the base towards the slightly recessed foot, black painted decoration composed of long-horned ibex or deer between double-axe motifs infilled with cross-hatching, two horizontal bands as the groundline below, repaired, with old staple holes
13¾ in. (35 cm.) high, 14½ in. (37 cm.) diam.
Provenance
Formerly in the collection of Professor Hans and Marie-Louise Erlenmeyer, Basel, Switzerland; acquired in the 1950s. Old ink inscribed label on base reading "Erlenmeyer, Basel".
