NINE GRAECO-EGYPTIAN HARDSTONE MAGICAL INTAGLIOS
CIRCA 2ND-4TH CENTURY A.D.
Comprising an oval chalcedony intaglio, with a vulture-headed god holding a snake and thunderbolt, "IAWH" in the field, reverse with Greek inscription; a black steatite oval intaglio with ibis and altar, rev. with three line inscription; a chalcedony intaglio with a youthful figure holding a snake, inside a rectangular border below a two line inscription and two lines of magical symbols; a cornelian intaglio with Ouroboros snake encircling a double cross symbol, two barred 'Z' symbols of Chnoubis, with other symbols and Greek letters, rev. with five line Greek inscription; a green hardstone intaglio with Chnoubis with his triple 'S' device, mounted in later gold setting with suspension loop on back; a turquoise intaglio with Chnoubis, rev. with circular Greek inscription; a yellow jasper intaglio with scorpion, rev. with three lines of Greek inscription; another yellow jasper intaglio with ithyphallic ape, rev. with inscription reading "Abraxas"; and a red jasper intaglio inscribed "HELIAS HAVE"
