A SOUTH ITALIAN POTTERY LEKYTHOS
CIRCA 4TH CENTURY B.C.
The body painted with a net pattern, foot, rim, neck and handle with black glaze, 4 in. (10.2 cm.) high; nine South Italian black-glazed vessels including a stemless kylix and a guttus with relief mask, 4th-3rd Century B.C., 9 in. diam. max.; a pottery dish painted with red and dark brown concentric bands, circa 6th-5th Century B.C., 7 in. (18 cm.) diam; a Daunian pottery olla, with wide everted rim and twin loop handles, between which a single animal head protome, the whole decorated with a red and dark brown geometric design, 8¼ in. (21 cm.) high; a Daunian pottery double spouted askos, painted with dark brown decoration, 6 in. (15.2 cm.) high, both 550-500 B.C.; a Hellenistic amber glass bowl with two incised lines around interior of rim, 2nd-1st Century B.C.; and a bronze alloy lion mask, mouth agape for use as a water spout, Roman or later, both 5½ in.
