The "Datejust" model with rotating bezel chased with minute divisions and fine dividing lines was launched in 1956. In one of the first U.S. Rolex catalogues featuring the watch it is shown with a dial bearing the emblem of the U.S. Air Force flying team the Thunderbirds. From this association its bezel is known as "Thunderbird" in the United States but as "Turn-O-Graph" in Europe.
