(Upper right corner of +2 repaired, affecting a few letters.) 17th-century vellum (covers slightly bowed). Provenance: Laurent Deechbroot (signature on title), who also owned a Ptolemy from Ortelius's library; Claudius Mondollot (ownership inscription dated 1696 on title and front free endpaper).

Later edition, but the first to explicitly discuss the Copernican theory. In this edition Clavius was "the first to accuse Copernicus not only of having presented a physically absurd doctrine but also of having contradicted numerous scriptural passages" (DSB). Adams C-2100; Houzeau-Lancaster 2678.
