"In one of his later Prefaces (c. 1674), Collins wrote: 'I hope also to have time hereafter to alter, amend and reprint other Treatises of my own especially my Treatise on Navigation intitled The Mariner's Plain Scale new Plained: the rather in regard of his present Majesty to his immortal praise, hath been pleased to settle a maintenache for forth Hospital Boys, and for a learned Lecturer to teach them Navigation'" (Taylor Mathematical Practitioners 247). This copy includes the title of the composite volume and title pages for all three parts including the title for the first part Navigation by the Mariners Plain Scale new plain'd: or, a Treatise of Geometrical and Arithmetical Navigation.
