FIRST EDITION, describing newly invented geometrical instruments for various purposes such as hydraulics, ballistics, and other geometrical problems. The leaf following the title lists the 11 works written by García de Céspedes. Of these, only two works were printed, Regimento de navegacion (see previous lot) and Hydrografia general; the only other surviving text, "Isolario," exists only in manuscript at the Biblioteca Nacional in Madrid. As with all works by García de Céspedes, the Libro de instrumentos nuevos is VERY RARE. According to American Book Prices Current, the last copy at auction was sold at Sotheby's London, 3 April 1985, lot 457. Palau 98620.
