FIRST EDITION. Account of the whaling expedition with Captain Scoresby on the ship Baffin in the summer of 1821. The voyage took them first to Spitzbergen, than along the east coast of Greenland, to Iceland and home. The work contains a lithographed map of the polar region from Baffin's Bay to Nova Zembla with Iceland in the center and some very fine whaling scenes by J.D. Harding (1797-1863) printed by Charles Joseph Hullmandel (1789-1850). These lithographs are very early examples of lithography in England. Arctic Bibliography 10844; Sabin 44195.
