The present lot derives from the picture by Jan Brueghel I and Hendrik van Balen in Schloss Sanssouci, Potsdam (inv.no. I 7768) of which three other versions are known (Duke of Wellington, Apsley House; collection Meuwese-Eras, Bois-le-Duc, 1919; and Mosigkau; photographs in the R.K.D., The Hague). The present lot omits the landscape background on the right where a view of Vulcan's forge has been introduced
