Little is known about the identity of the artist. Friedländer (op.cit.) describes him as belonging to the generation born circa 1500 and active circa 1530. His conjectured oeuvre suggests that he came from the milieu of Bruges and that as a youth he probably moved with other painters to Antwerp. His work consists of elegant women depicted half length as here
