A study of the same subject, in the same sense, formerly in the William Berg Collection sold at Parke-Bernet, New York, 15 April 1953, lot 8, was unknown to Schnackenburg (Slatkes, op.cit., pp. 230-1, fig. 4). He dates a comparable drawing of a woman with a child to circa 1639-42/3 (op.cit., no. 444). Slatkes mentions Dusart's etching dated 1695 of a drunken couple based on this etching (B.7). Schnackenburg dates this plate to circa 1647-52, while Slatkes is more precise, dating it to circa 1647.
