Lot Essay

Ibn Arabi was a mystic, philosopher, poet and sage. Born in Andalusia in AH 1165, he wrote extensively throughout his life. Broadly speaking, his works are concerned with divine reality and the human's experience thereof and his writings have been particularly influential among elites and Sufi tariqas.

Another copy of the Sharh al-Alfaz (Explanation of [Sufi] technical terms) exists in the Chester Beatty Library, see Arthur J. Arberry, A Handlist of the Arabic Manuscripts, Vol. III, Dublin, 1958, no. 3682, 14, p. 80.
