The two "signature" cartouches on the blade attribute it to the most famous of all Safavid swordsmiths:bande ye- shah-e velayat 'abbas (The servant of the King of Trusteeship, 'Abbas) and 'amal-e asadullah (The work of Asadullah). This inscription is however almost certainly a considerably later embellishment to the blade.
