Persian manuscript on paper, 27ff. plus 8 fly-leaves, each folio with 10ll. of elegant flowing black nasta'liq on finely gold-sprinkled panels, each page with margins of blue, pink, green and gold with blue rule and outer rule of black and red, opening bifolio delicately illuminated in gold and polychrome, the text in cloud bands against gold ground and the margins decorated with scrolling flowers and leaves in gold with black outline, the colophon signed in red nasta'liq by 'Ali al-Sharif, pen-named Zarif, and dated 1271, worn black morocco binding

The manuscript was intended for the library of the Prime Minister of Iran, Mirza Aqa Khan Nuri, who held this post under Nasir al-Din Shah between 1268 (1851-2 AD) to 1275 (1858 AD).
