A SINHALESE CARVED IVORY CABINET
SRI LANKA, MID 17TH CENTURY
Of rectangular form with two hinged doors to the front on four ball feet, the top and sides each with a panel of ivory carved with dense foliage around animals or human figures, the ivory backed with sheets of brass to give a golden background, in a border of tight scrolling foliage, each door similar, opening to reveal six graduated drawers each with similar carving, the central drawer with an arched design, some damages to ivory panels, hinges replaced and slightly loose
