A PAIR OF QAJAR GOLD DAMASCENED AND ENGRAVED STEEL CANDLESTICKS
IRAN, 19TH CENTURY
Each on square plinth, rising and narrowing through pronounced boss into a pronounced hemisphere, above that a knopped upper section and cylindrical mouth with everted flat rim, engraved with floral and avian patterns throughout, flanked by and enclosing gold damascened arabesques, scrolls and medallions, the rim with nasta'liq cartouches, the sides of the base with silver damascened details
