QAJAR IRAN, 19TH CENTURY
Oil on canvas, the elderly sheikh sits amongst a colourful crowd confronted by yet another crowd which includes gentlemen in European dress and elegantly dressed Qajar ladies, a half naked dervish stands timidly to the bottom left and a palace on an island is apparant on the horizon, with a seam in the original canvas, arched format, relined, wood frame
