The ladles of traditional form with circular shallow bowls, all with long handles with cusped terminals attached to the bowls with elaborate applied appendages, with varying decoration both engraved and in repoussé, two with Georgian inscriptions along the handles, the bowl of deep form on vertical foot and slightly everted rim, with four engraved lines above a short Georgian inscription, with hallmarks dated 1858, slightly tarnished

The inscriptions on two of the spoons read: 'I am the son of Demetre the Ploughman' and 'This silver scoop belongs to Priest Grigol Natsvlishvili'. The silver bowl features an inscription which states that it belongs to the family of Rostia Ishkhanov.

A number of similar ladles and bowls were sold in the past at Sotheby's, London (12 April 1989, lot 164; 25 April 1990, lots 187 and 188, 25 April 1991, lot 1062, and 22 October 1992, lot 245).
