The attribution was first suggested by Professor van Regteren Altena. The present drawing recalls the physical types and details, especially the stubby fingers, and the drapery folds of studies such as the signed Woman by a Stream in the Museum Boymans-van Beuningen, Rotterdam and the seated man in the Kupferstichkabinett, Berlin (E. Bock, J. Rosenberg, Beschreibendes Verzeichnis sämtlicher Zeichnungen, Die Niederländischen Meister, Berlin, 1930, no. 315).
