A SAFAVID BRASS TORCH STAND, IRAN, 17TH CENTURY AND POSSIBLY LATER
Of faceted columnar form with flaring foot and everted lip, the main, upper and lower registers with finely executed interlaced arabesques and palmette vine on a hatched ground , a nasta'liq inscription within a cartouche to the underside of the rim, and a later inscription to rim, engraving possibly later enhanced - 10 1/2in. (26.5cm.) high
