Of rectangular form with faceted double rhomboid handle, the inscription carved on a ground of floriated scrolling vine - 5/8in. (1.6cm.) long

The Persian inscription reads:
Oh ... 'Ali Oh Abu Husayn Oh Abu Turab

These are the epithets of 'Ali ibn Abi Taleb, the first Imam and thus this is both a pious Shi'a inscription and the personal seal of someone with the given name of 'Ali
