A LARGE CIRCULAR SILVER INLAID BRONZE TRAY, SYRIA, 19TH CENTURY
Of deep form, with sloping rim, the well with tugra in the name of Muhammad Husayn surrounded by the sura al-ikhlas (CXII) in thuluth script, a series of lobed cartouches, and on inside of well edge in kufic, the surat al-kawthar (CVIII) in the name of the maker ... Isma'il ..., a further inscription in thuluth alternating with roundels to rim, the whole on a ground of dense arabesque - 24 1/4in. (61.5cm.) diam.
