'De Blinkert' is still a row of dunes West of Haarlem, near the inn 'Kraantje Lek', which was also a favourite subject for many artists in the 17th-19th Centuries. In drawing Haarlem from 'De Blinkert', van Noorde joined a number of contemporaries who recorded the city from this view point, including Hendrik Spilman, Egbert van Drielst, Jurriaan Andriessen, Vincent van der Vinne and Wybrand Hendriks, who was also a director of Teyler's Museum in Haarlem.
