TWO NISHAPUR BOWLS AND A FRAGMENTARY KASHAN VASE, IRAN, 12TH/13TH CENTURY
The first bowl of baluster form on a spreading foot, the sides moulded under the clear glaze with confronting birds above a row of smiling faces with rounded cheeks, the foot with a scrolling vine, splashed on the rim with cobalt blue glaze - 6 1/4in. (16cm.) diam.; the second bowl on a short foot, a pseudo-inscription painted in brown on a cream ground - 4 5/8in. (12.2cm.) diam.; and a lustre vase with an inscription around the body below a row of birds - 5 5/8in. (14.5cm.) high (3)
