Lot Essay

The Amsterdam Paleis voor Volksvlijt (Palace for Industry) was built in 1858-9 on the site of the Utrechtse Poort at the Singelgracht. It was situated near the present building of De Nederlandsche Bank at the Frederiksplein and was used for exhibitions until it burnt down in April 1929.
