Engraved with the arms of Sir Edward Lake within Stuart mantling, hallmarks to rim and touch to the reverse of the unrecorded maker 'TG'

Sir Edward Lake achieved fame fighting for Charles I at Edgehill in 1642. With the Restoration of 1660 he was given a Baronetcy and subsequently became Chancellor of Lincoln Diocese, residing at the Priory, Minister Yard. He died in 1674 and was buried at Lincoln Cathedral.
