Lot Essay

Although with no touch the candlestick is probably made by Hugh Quick (free 1674). It is similar to two in the Neish collection both by Hugh Quick which are illustrated Cotterell, Old Pewter, p.93 fig.c and Hornsby, Pewter of the Western World, fig.1074. See also the Journal of the Pewter Society, Autumn 2000, p.33.
