The body plain but with a band of chatter decoration below lip, the cast handles with cherub's heads and scrolls, Touch inside base and ownership intials 'M.W.' scratched under base

Lot Essay

The form compares with a silver porringer sold by Tennants of Yorkshire by a York maker. A similar in pewter is illustrated in Cotterell, Old Pewter, plate XXXIII fig.d. described as a posset cup from the Yeates collection.
