Lot Essay

This was published for the 1959-60 Exposition Internationale du Surrealisme at Galerie Daniel Cordier, Paris, organized by Duchamp and André Breton. The telegram is addressed 'VOUS, Chez André Breton 42 Rue Fontaine PARIS' and hypothetically sent from New York (Duchamp's home at the time). It reads, 'JE PURULE TU PURULES LACHAISE PURULE GRACE A UN RABLE DE VENERIEN QUI NA RIEN DE VENERABLE RROSE'
