Of square shape, the tooled green leather-lined moulded top, above a frieze drawer with divisions, the concave-sided undertier with pierced-fretted gallery, above lappet-headed legs terminating in pad feet, with leather castors, with green and white paper label to the underside 'LORD WARDINGTON/ROAD STORE/AC/03.000473/21 04 04/68/GM', and inscribed in ink 'WARDINGTON MANOR BANBURY, NR', the drawer originally with handles, the two front ears original, the top apparently original

Lot Essay

Christopher Henry Beaumont Pease (1924-2005), 2nd Lord Wardington, born into a Quaker banking family, was the son of John William Beaumont Pease, former Chairman of Lloyds Bank who was made 1st Lord Wardington in 1936. 2nd Lord Wardington, a former Captain in the Scots Guard during World War Two, was a leading English bibliophile.
