The serpentine-shaped back, arms and seat upholsterd à chassis with purple silk with Chinoiserie pattern, the toprail centred by flowerheads flanked by sprays of flowers, the waved arms on cabriole-shaped moulded supports, the channelled seat-rail centred by a flowerhead, on cabriole legs headed by flowerheads, stamped 'A N DELAPORTE', previously decorated

This form of upholstering, which is known as à chassis, allows for a different winter and summer upholstery. The chair would have two removable sets of upholstered seat and back, with gros-point or velvet for winter and silks for summer. This way the seat decoration could be adjusted to the taste of the seasons for the interior.
