Each with rectangular arched back and padded seat covered in floral patterned fabric, the downswept arms with strapwork carved terminals and cabriole supports, above moulded rails and slightly cabriole legs headed by acanthus, joined by X-shaped stretchers and terminating in hairy hoof feet, one fauteuil with restored breaks to the back legs

Lot Essay

This impressive pair of giltwood fauteuils shows features that are characteristic of the Régence style, in particular, the presence of an arch-shaped back and close-nailed upholstered uprights.
