Lot Essay

This table is based on a design by Gillows illustrated in the firm's Estimate Sketch Book of 1822, No. 3146. A similar rosewood table, attributed to Gillows was sold anonymously, Sotheby's, London, 21 February 1997, lot 210. Another similar centre table was sold anonymously, Christie's, London, 21 September 1995, lot 170 (£11,500).
