The rounded rectangular twin-flap top with reeded edge above a side frieze part mahogany-lined drawer, on ring-turned reeded tapering legs, with brass caps and castors, the drawer stamped 'GILLOWS.LANC...' (sic), the inside of the back rail incised 'XII', the hinged bearers in ash

Lot Essay

A similar pembroke table with reeded legs was supplied by Gillows in 1813 to William Powlett, 2nd Baron Bolton (d. 1850) for Hackwood Park. It was sold by the Executors of the Estate of the 2nd Viscount Camrose, Hackwood Park, Basingstoke, Hampshire, Christie's house sale, 20 April 1998, lot 370.
