Cf. John and Griselda Lewis, Pratt Ware, English and Scottish Relief Decorated and Underglaze Coloured Earthenware 1780-1840 (Suffolk, 1984), p. 171 for a similar jug and where is is suggested that this jug may have been made in celebration of Wellington's final victory at Waterloo.
