Between 1954-1957 Rietveld designed for the 'Utrechtse Woningstichting' an appartment block in the area Hoograven, Utrecht. For The apparments were fitted with a hat- and coat-rack which Rietveld designed as well. The inhabitants however, did not appreciate his design at all (they thought it to be an 'ugly' thing), and changed it for their own coat-racks

cf. Goed Wonen, no. 9, 1957, pp. 185-203, and p. 201, were a model of this rack is illustrated
