A VERY RARE JEROBOAM OF 1978 CASK 23
Property of a Central Coast Lady
Recently removed from a purpose built underground home cellar of impeccable storage conditions
Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, Cask 23, Cabernet Sauvignon --Vintage 1978
Napa Valley
Level: into neck; torn label, original grape embossed lead capsule, label states "Sold in California Only"
"I have had this wine three times over the last six months, twice from magnums and once from a regular bottle. Surprisingly, there was little difference in the wines, with the magnums perhaps exhibiting better color saturation. Like so many Cask 23s, the 1978 has been drinking well since it was released by the winery. A huge nose of jammy, berry fruit, oriental spices, coffee, mocha, and herbs is enticing. There are gorgeous extract levels, a supple, velvety texture, medium to full body, and a smooth-as-silk, rich finish. Displaying no signs of losing its fruit, this wine, which has been at its peak of maturity for nearly a decade, can easily be held for another ten years." Robert Parker, Wine Advocate #84 (Dec 1992)
