lithograph in colors, 1894, on wove paper, Wittrock's state B (of B), with letters, printed by Chaix, with the Republique Française inkstamp, the full sheet, horizontal central fold (split and restored at upper center), a few creases throughout, areas of staining along the upper sheet edge, small losses along the lower right sheet edge and corner, a spot of foxing and creasing of paper at upper center, otherwise in good condition, laid down to Japon, framed

Lot Essay

The second poster done to advertise a book by Victor Joze. Both were controversial for their statements questioning German morals and militaristic activies at the time. A small form of it was also used for the book's jacket cover.
