Commissioned by Paul Sescau, a photographer and friend who commissioned this ad for his services. He was know for his attempts to seduce models in his studio and Toulouse-Lautrec humorously portrays the female figure leaving the room in disgust. The pattern of question marks on her wardrobe shows he quandry of the whole situation.
