With nickel-finished lever movement, 19 jewels, bimetallic compensation balance, the engine-turned two-tone silvered dial with Roman numerals on blank chapter ring, blued steel moon-style hands, concealed under two sliding shutters, opened by depressing the crown, in plain slim circular case with snap on back, case with hand-stamped Cartier reference numbers, dial signed, movement signed EWC

The Éclipse or shutter watch was designed by Edmond Jaeger for Cartier in the early 1910s, the first patent (no. 412'821) was issued in 1910, the second for a modified version with two dials (no. 16'918) in 1913.
