Accompanied by Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with stainless steel and 18K pink gold case and black dial with applied gold hour markers in 1942 and its subsequent sale on 15 May 1942.
This watch has never been offered at auction before and is thought to be the only reference 1503 in stainless steel and pink gold and with black dial to appear in public to date.
Reference 1503 was introduced into the market in 1941 and in production until the early 1950s. It features a similar case design and dial layout as reference 1509 and was so far known only in stainless steel.
Examples in stainless steel and pink gold are virtually unknown. The present watch fitted with a black lacquered dial appears to be a unique combination, fully certified by the Extract from the Archives.
Although, according to Patek Philippe's archives, the present watch was sold with a leather strap, the stainless steel and pink gold bracelet can be dated from the same period and was most certainly added by the retailer, Eberhard in Milan.
It furthermore impresses by its excellent overall condition and its freshness to the market.
