A pressed bisque-headed fashionable doll
with fixed deep blue eyes, lightly feathered brows, black painted lashes, ears pierced into the head, two-tone closed mouth, original long blonde mohair wig with centre-parting and cork pate and rigid-limb kid body --17in. (43cm.) high, circa 1872; wearing orginial eau de Nil silk walking frock in two pieces trimmed with blue and white silk bobble braid, original underclothes, white felt hat trimmed with black velvet ribbon and artifical daisies and high-heeled leather button boots; additional clothes and accessories comprising a fine linen blouse with poet sleeves, lace edged collar, cuffs and front placket; another blouse of organdy, the vertically tucked bodice with embroidered yoke edged with lace; a peignoir with scalloped borders and tucked hem; a lace pinafore; a home-made red wool frock trimmed with jet beads; a pale blue silk apron decorated with black velvet ribbon bands and bows; a full skirted waist petticoat, the hem with tucks, drawn threadwork and scallops; a corset cover; elastic-sided heeled boots; a red leather waist purse with belt decorated with steel drops and mother of pearl studs containing a Chambre de Commerce de Béziers one Franc note; two combs and matching jewellery (one damaged); pink kid shoes; a hand mirror and various home-made clothing including a country skirt; a red cape edged wth black ribbon; a pink pinafore embroidered with herring-bone stitch and a blue silk parasol wih cream silk fringe (handle and ferrule missing)
